Attending Career Fairs can be an effective way to find jobs and internships. This workshop will provide a strategy for pre-career fair preparation, reviewing the list of employers, creating a target list, conducting pre-fair research, and making a lasting impression on recruiters. The workshop will also address how to standout, tips for remaining calm under pressure, great discussions with employers. You will also learn how to best utilizing your time waiting in line and what observations recruiters make when you are waiting.

One key aspect of searching for a job in any sector is having the ability to effectively communicate your experiences and fit concisely. You will also learn how to weave your academic, volunteer, and/or leadership experience into answers. This workshop will focus on helping graduate students to navigate the interview process, and strategize on how to effectively answer questions by articulating strengths and skills.

We will be outlining tips, information to gather, and questions to ask, to help you effectively navigate the job offer negotiation process. Many job seekers view a job offer only as the amount of salary an employer extends. It is important to understand that the job offer is a comprehensive package of benefits, which include insurance, vacation, sick time or PTO (paid time off) 401K/retirement plan. Other factors include location, possible bonuses, profit sharing, and promotional opportunities. The job offer negotiation process requires gathering information about yourself, your target sector, and the employer, and having conversation with the employer.

Learn what talents you have, invest time, and turn them into strengths! Talent X Investment = Strength Utilizing your strengths will energize you and align with your values. Individuals who use their strengths daily are six times more likely to be engaged on the job, are more productive, profitable, have a higher quality of work, and are less likely to experience stress or anxiety according to research by Gallup. This workshop is limited to 25 students-registration will close when capacity is reached. Assessment codes will not be issued until April 1, 2020. Students MUST register for this workshop and take the Strengths Assessment in order to participate.
